- P&O Cruises latest ship, P&O Arvia, made her debut in December 2022 - Subscribe below to keep informed!

The Arvia cruise ship measures approximately 344.5m in length with a moulded breadth of 42m. With a gross weight of 184,700 tonnes (t), the ship provides accommodation for up to 5,200 passengers and 1,762 crew. Our newest Excel class ship will be just as innovative as her sister ship Iona, but with countless unique flourishes which embrace her sunshine destinations. You can expect energetic adventures, interactive family entertainment, one-of-a-kind dining experiences and soothing relaxation options. If you can tear them away from the clubs, there’s a wide range of activities and entertainment to enjoy all together, as well as lots of delicious dining options. At the front of the ship on Deck 17, the Crow’s Nest is a typical cruise ship observation lounge that morphs into a sophisticated piano and cocktail bar in the evenings.

Star of the Seas Cruise Ship, USA
By day, the dome functions as the ship’s main pool area, with deckchairs, table service from three bars, and movies played on the big screen. By night, the dome transforms into an entertainment venue for concerts and energetic live shows. Arvia is aimed at a younger demographic than the line’s more traditional ships and its pioneering amenities, nightlife and new restaurants are attracting first-time cruisers. That said, some of our group attended one such scheduled gathering and, disappointingly, nobody else showed. Budget travellers will be pleased to hear that Arvia has more Inside cabins than any other P&O Cruises' ship. Seeing as you’re likely to spend more time on the public decks of the Sunshine Ship than on a private cabin balcony, this is a great value option, ditto the outside cabins.

SkyDome is one of the boat's signature attractions and the largest onboard entertainment hub. The new venues join P&O UK's favorites, such as The Glass House, Epicurean, Sindhu, and Brodie's, from the long list of restaurants, cafes, bars and lounges, self-service choices. Not traditionally for P&O UK, Arvia offers exclusively "Freedom Dining" (aka "Flexible Dining") in all main dining rooms.

P&O Cruises New Family-Friendly Cruise Ship
It’s one of the few places onboard other than the main dining rooms where the ‘gala night’ dress code is enforced. The impressive three-storey atrium of Arvia from P&O Cruises features lots of public seating, bars, ... The recently-launched ‘Excel class’ ships Iona and Arvia rival some of the world’s biggest cruise ships for activities, while retaining the very British experience that the line is known for.
P&O Arvia is a fantastic addition to the fleet and a great choice for anyone who wants to experience the best that modern cruising has to offer. You can catch a movie, enjoy live music, or even take part in a silent disco under the stars. Let’s start at the beginning and get ready to set sail on the vacation of a lifetime with P&O Arvia. With over 5,200 passengers and 1,800 crew, this ship is packed with amenities and activities to keep you entertained throughout your voyage. Elsewhere there's the Horizon buffet on Deck 16 as well as Deck 8's The Quays, a food court which offers small prepared plates alongside stands serving noodles, fish and chips and "Roast in the Quays".

Most shows are repeated several times usually over two nights to allow everyone onboard the chance to see them. Evening entertainment is repeated several times in the Headliners Theater to allow more guests to ... The most eye-catching entertainment feature aboard Arvia is definitely the SkyDome, a flexible space with a retractable roof on Decks 16 and 17. As with all large vessels, that stated capacity of 5,200 is based on double occupancy of rooms. So during the summer, when many children stay in the same room as their parents, the actual number of people onboard can be up to 1,000 more. Part of the Carnival Corporation, which also includes Cunard, Holland America, Seabourn, and Carnival itself, P&O Cruises sails with a predominantly British guest list from Southampton, England, but also operates some fly-cruises.
Iona and Arvia are P&O UK's largest vessels ever constructed - with GT tonnage 180,000+ tons and max passenger capacity of nearly 6300 (plus ~1800 crew). It is also the biggest UK-based passenger ship (permanently homeported in Southampton England) and the UK market's second (after Iona) newbuild powered by LNG (liquefied natural gas). The liner has LNG engines that provide electricity for the propulsion system both in ports and the open sea.
New and exciting restaurants
The theater has comfortable plush seating and the latest LED and sound technologies. The 2-deck-high auditorium during the day serves as a complimentary Cinema and also offers matinee performances and fun activities (Q&As, port talks, lectures). In the evenings, full-scale productions offer West End-style shows (including "Festival"), stand-up comedy, and cabaret performances.
It also can be used for private parties and celebrations with an in-cabin beverage service by a dedicated butler. At the heart of Arvia's deck plan is the all-new and lighter Grand Atrium with three-storey glass walls filling the space with bright, widescreen sea views. Arvia also has the first rum distillery at sea as well as two new restaurants, 6th Street Diner and Green & Co. The latter’s flexitarian menu offers a mix of sushi and plant-based dishes. For families there's a new submarine-themed "Escape Room" experience called Mission Control. "The Headliner's Theatre" (decks 6-7) is the ship's main show lounge for grand-style music and dance productions in the evenings.
The 2022-built MS Arvia cruise ship is P&O UK fleet's second Excellence-class boat, with sistership Iona. P&O's Arvia and Iona are currently the newest and largest passenger liners designed and built for the UK source market. Arvia offers Inside (windowless), Outside (ocean-facing with a window), Balcony cabins and Suites, including 28 Single cabins and 32 of the new Conservatory Mini-Suites, which were introduced on sister ship Iona.

With its luxurious amenities, world-class dining options, and exciting entertainment, you are sure to have a fantastic time onboard. The Arvia cruise ship features a unique blend of new bars and 20 restaurants with dining facilities in addition to fleet favourites and iconic Iona foodie experiences. MS Arvia's christening ceremony was held on March 16, 2023, in Bridgetown Barbados. The naming ceremony was held at two locations - onboard and at Heywoods Beach. The event was hosted by the popular English DJs and broadcasters Sara Cox (Sara Joanne Cyzer/1974-born) and Trevor Nelson (Trevor Ricardo Nelson/1964-born).
Toiletries in mini-suites and suites are high-end and come from The White Company. Guests of suites are gifted a box of White Company goodies which can be used in the room as well as taken home afterwards. Arvia celebrates all the things you know and love about a P&O Cruises holiday while also giving you the chance to explore brand-new venues. It’s all about more choice, more freedom and more unforgettable moments. Whether you are a social drinker, like a glass of wine with dinner, need that extra-special shot of caffeine, or only drink soft drinks, there is a drinks package for you on your P&O Arvia Cruise.
Finally, on such a big ship, demand can be high for restaurants at peak times and popular shows, so long waits must sometimes be expected. If you’re a creature of habit on a cruise, you may do better to consider a smaller ship. There’s also plenty of outdoor space, including the Beachcomber adults-only bar and pool on Deck 18 and a private retreat, accessible for suite guests or by paying an additional fee. In addition to the main theater and SkyDome, there is the Limelight cabaret club and the intimate 710 club, together with live music in various bars around the ship.
But whereas Iona was built for colder climate cruising, Arvia is very much designed for warmer weather, spending most of the year touring the Mediterranean with a short winter season in the Caribbean. Adjacent to the Beachcomber (at the bow on Deck 18) is The Retreat - an adults-only VIP Sundeck with 2x outdoor Jacuzzies/whirlpools. This is the ship's "spa terrace" with several shaded private cabanas (available for rent). The VIP sundeck (accessed via prepaid day- or voyage-long passes) is inclusive of alfresco dining, Spa massages, dedicated staff service (chilled drinks, cold flannels, light snacks). New (Arvia ship exclusive) treatments include Kneipp Walk (pebble foot massage combined with hot-and-cold water treatments).
